BlastTex / Forklift dock & ramp traction
Dock and Ramp Restoration: Buildup Removed. Texture Restored.
Many warehouse forklifts run on smooth tires. Tire rubber, hydraulic fluid and moisture reduce traction on concrete ramps for forklifts and pedestrians alike. We sweep, scrub, shot blast and scarify docks, ramps, truck lanes and walkways to remove buildup and restore texture.
Results vary by surface. BlastTex does not test or certify slip resistance.

Warning signs
- Black tire rubber and an oily film across the ramp
- Forklift wheel spin or sliding on wet ramps
- Operators avoiding a ramp or reducing speed
- Hydraulic leaks soaked into the concrete at the dock plates
- Standing water and grime along the edges
- Near-misses or complaints from your team
- Slippery pedestrian walkways beside the dock
Illustration, not a completed job. The image at the top shows what ramp buildup and a cleaned, textured surface can look like. Actual results vary by surface.
Experience behind the service
In more than 30 years of delivering industrial equipment to docks and logistics centers, Chris Hoover saw how often tire rubber and hydraulic fluid compromise ramps.
The pattern repeated at dock after dock: ramps glazed with rubber and fluid, forklifts struggling to climb them, and employees walking a slippery path beside them. Many stayed that way because correcting them means working around a busy dock.
That experience makes dock and ramp restoration a core focus at BlastTex. We own the shot blasters and HEPA dust extractors, and we plan the work around your trucks.

The Dock & Ramp Restoration package: from $2,500
Clean
Sweeping and scrubbing lift loose debris, oil film, and surface grime so we can see the real condition of the ramp.
Shot blast
Steel shot removes tire rubber and surface buildup and opens the concrete with a uniform texture.
Scarify if needed
For ramps that need deeper texture, or buildup too heavy for the blaster, we cut grooves with a scarifier.
Maintain the results
A light sweep and scrub about every three months on a Floor Care Plan slows the buildup from returning.

Dock and ramp questions
Do you guarantee slip resistance?
We clean, shot blast and scarify to remove buildup and restore texture, and we photograph the work. Results depend on the concrete, traffic, weather and what is on the ramp, so testing and certifying slip resistance or compliance belongs to the property owner and qualified professionals. We tell you plainly what to expect before we start.
Can you work while our dock is operating?
Often, yes. We plan work zones around truck and forklift activity, and we work nights and weekends when the dock is quiet.
What is the difference between shot blasting and scarifying a ramp?
Shot blasting removes rubber and surface buildup and opens up the concrete with a uniform texture. Scarifying cuts grooves with rotating cutters and goes deeper. We use it on ramps that need more texture than shot blasting provides, or where buildup is too heavy for the blaster.
What do you need to quote a ramp?
Photos of the ramp and dock area, the approximate length and width, whether the surface is bare concrete or coated, your dock hours, and the city.
How often will buildup come back?
It depends on traffic, weather, and what leaks onto the ramp. After we see the space, we can suggest a cleaning schedule. We usually recommend a light sweep and scrub about every three months, adjusted to your traffic.
Concerned about a ramp?
Text photos of the ramp and dock, the approximate length and width, whether it is bare or coated, and your dock hours. Chris will assess the conditions and tell you what it will take. Free Dock & Ramp Walk-Through Checklist →
